Lisbon Metro Tickets

Viva Viagem Card
This is your ticket to ride on almost all public transport in Lisbon, including the metro, buses, trams, and even elevators. You can buy one for €0.50 and then load it with money for single rides or multiple trips. It is a reusable travel Lisbon card.

Single Ticket
If you only need a ride once, this is your option. It is valid for one trip on any metro, tram, bus, or elevator in Lisbon and costs €1.50 if you buy it on the vehicle. But if you have a Viva Viagem card, it is cheaper at €1.34.

Zapping
This is like a pay-as-you-go plan for Lisbon’s public transport. You load money onto your Viva Viagem card and then pay a discounted fare of €1.13 per metro trip whenever you ride. It is a good option if you are visiting for a short time or plan on taking several trips.

  • The Lisbon Metro map is super easy to understand. It clearly shows all the stations, places where you can switch between lines, and even how to connect to other types of transportation.
  • You can grab a map at any metro station, tourist information center, or even find one online.

Lisbon Metro Schedule

  • The Lisbon Metro runs every day from 6:30 am until 1:00 am the next morning. Trains come frequently, between every 6 and 15 minutes, depending on where you are and what time of day it is.
  • During rush hour, trains come even more often to handle all the people commuting to work or school. This means you should not have to wait too long for a train, no matter when you travel.

  • The Blue Line has stops at Baixa-Chiado, Marques de Pombal, and the Zoo.
  • The Yellow Line has stops at Marquês de Pombal and Campo Pequeno.
  • The Red Line runs from Sao Sebastiao all the way to Lisbon Airport, with stops in important areas like Saldanha and Alameda.
  • The Green Line has stops at Baixa-Chiado, Rossio, and Campo Grande.
